Program dates: June 1st, 2026 – End date: August 6th, 2026
 
Location: Hybrid (three days per week on-site, fourth day remote or on-site)
 
Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
 
Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
 
Pay rate: $17.00/hour
 
As the Library & Academic Marketing/Sales Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. 
The Library & Academic Marketing Team is based in the New York Office and works a hybrid schedule. We are looking for a motivated and creative individual who is eager to learn about the publishing industry with a focus on connecting with two segments of our customer base.  
To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities. 
Who you are: 
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, enthusiastic individual with strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Able to work independently as well as in collaborative and team environments 
  • Proficient in MS Office skills; Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Word 
  • Strongly interested in book publishing as well as public libraries and academia  
  • Experienced with Canva, WordPress, and social media  
  • Able to deliver work in a timely fashion  
What you will learn:
 
  • How to collaborate with Library & Academic team on seasonal marketing plans, strategies, and campaigns 
  • Updating seasonal catalogs across publishing seasons 
  • Process desk copy management and reporting  
  • Creation and scheduling of social media posts and newsletter content  
  • Fulfilling library and educator award requests 
  • Refreshing the library and academic website 
  • How to work alongside team to prepare for special events, conferences, and buzz sessions  
  • Various reporting and administrative functions of HBG and industry systems
